Esme

It was such a pleasure to photograph Esme for Nathan and Theresa. They own a dog grooming parlour in Gloucester called TK9. They were recommended to me by another photographer who has since retired.

It's always great when someone shows a real appreciation for my work and what I'm trying to do but even more so when a fellow professional recommends me.

"Your work is of a very high standard, but your prices are very reasonable, so I've no hesitation in recommending your services".

Mouse About Town's 1st Birthday Party

Mouse About Town celebrated her 1st birthday last week...and what a year it's been!

I've an established wedding photography business that I run through www.gillthomas.co.uk, but Mouse About Town began, (like all good ideas) over a glass of wine, (or two!) towards the end of 2013. My son's wooden ride on mouse was parked up in the corner of our snug lounge and it got me thinking about names. Seeing him on it whizzing along the pavements of Cheltenham town inspired the name Mouse About Town.

In January 2014, coincidently at about the same time as I finished breast feeding our daughter, work hormones must have kicked in. I burned the midnight oil designing and building the website and then in March I launched Mouse About Town on Facebook. In a year I've hit over 1,150 likes and had so much support from everyone, it's been incredible.

One of the real highlights of last year was opening The Mousehole, my new photography studio, which is located in The Suffolks in Cheltenham. It's small but perfectly formed and ever so cosy and quirky. It's bursting at the seams with vintage props and brilliant car boot finds. My children often find toys of theirs that I've quietly snuck out of the house while they were watching Peppa Pig!

The studio has opened up a whole new avenue of creativity for me and was the perfect venue to host my birthday party! We celebrated in style with two FREE cake smash marathon events. It was brilliant to share my birthday with all the little ones, who all had enormous fun smashing their cakes, bashing balloons and generally making a complete mess! I even had a cake waiting for me when I got home, made by my fabulous Mr Mouse!

Looking ahead, one of the highlights of this year is the new collaboration that's in the pipeline with Winston's Wish. It's a charity very close to my heart and I'm excited to see how things develop.

Here is a selection of my favourite photos from the cake smash marathon events. For the full collections please use the following links:

The Mousehole Launch Party Weekend

Last weekend was the launch of my new photography studio, The Mousehole. Located just off the Bath Road car park, in Cheltenham, this is a photography studio with a twist!

Lots of quirky, vintage props and brilliant car boot finds created a fun two days for everyone who came along for a free 10 minute taster session. We had over 50 people through the door and raised £100 for Winston's Wish, with our raffle and fab prizes generously donated by the local traders of the Suffolks and Bath Road.

We also held a silly face competition, judged by editor Deborah Langham, editor of Families Gloucestershire magazine. The winner was picked on Friday and will be announced in the January issue of Families Gloucestershire, on sale on January 5th 2015.

I've had such great feedback and lots of repeat bookings, so a big thank you to everyone.

Below is just a small selection of pictures from the weekend.

Paws in the Park - Pet & Dog Photographer

I enjoyed a fun few hours on Sunday snapping some perfect pups and pooches. Here's a snippet of a few of the photos from the Paws in the Park event, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. I'll be adding the full collection soon. Give me a shout if you're looking for a pet photographer to snap some fun shots!

Raspberry Ripple

Mouse About Town had great fun this morning, rummaging through the raspberry bushes, tucked away in a secret spot in Grandad's garden. A wonderful hour was spent filling our bowls as full as we could with big, red, juicy berries, (and yes, one or two might have slipped into our mouths by accident!)

We took our haul into the kitchen and made delicious raspberry and banana smoothies, as fresh as the moment they were picked!

Below is the tale of our morning. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Family Photography, Cheltenham

Last Sunday I enjoyed another fun, family photography session with Annika, Huia and their two adorable girls - Mika and Taylor, plus their two gorgeous new additions to the family - 5 month old twins, Noah and Harrison.

I had great fun playing peek-a-boo with Mika and Taylor behind the magnificent trees in Pittville Park, Cheltenham. After starting the session with some yummy ice-creams, I chased the girls through the park and down to the lake where we took some time out to feed the ducks. Normal play resumed quickly as we made our way to the playground for some serious swing time.

Below are a few of the snaps from the session. Click here to view the full collection.

Event Photography @ The Big Lunch, Cheltenham

Last weekend I enjoyed a fantastic street party, (and fabulous weather!) as part of a very simple idea set up by The Eden Project - The Big Lunch.

The aim was to get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours annually on the first Sunday in June in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. And that concept was embraced none more so by the residents at 'The Junction' of Gratton Street and Commercial Street, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

I've included a snap below but the full collection can be found here

Family Photography Shoot - Pittville Park, Cheltenham

I had so much fun with Alison, George and their two boys, 3 year old Oliver and 6 month old James, at Pittville Park in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire last Saturday.

I hope you enjoy the following selection of photos from this really enjoyable family photography session.
