Lou, Andy & Milo

It was great catching up with Lou, Andy and Milo again. They used to live across the street from us before we all had children and moved.

Lou is a local painter in Cheltenham. To find out more about her work visit her website at www.louisemillininchley.com

They had a great time when they came into The Mousehole for their studio shoot, which Andy bought for Lou has a gift for her 40th birthday.

Lilliputs June Concert

On Monday I went along to photograph the always fabulous Lilliput Concert - a classical concert series especially for adults and babies.

This is the third time that Kate Skeet, the brainchild behind Lilliputs, has asked me along to photograph her wonderfully relaxed and child friendly concerts. Previously I have photographed Lilliput Concert's 1st Birthday, (click here to view the photos) and then their Christmas concert, (click here to view the photos). It's always such fun. There is heaps going on, with little ones often clambering onto the stage and clapping along to the music.

Concerts take place on a monthly basis at St Andrew's Church in Cheltenham. The music is proper grown up classical, but in bite sized, toddler attention-span friendly chunks. Each concert lasts for around 40 minutes. For more information go to http://lilliputconcerts.blogspot.co.uk/

The full collection of photos will be going live soon. Watch this space.

Thanks!

Winston's Wish Residential Weekend

Winston's Wish runs residential weekends for bereaved children and young people aged 6 to 18, that is both challenging and fun.

The weekends involve practical and creative activities that encourage teamwork, building confidence and self-esteem. This sets the scene for the children to begin sharing their own stories, to untangle and express a range of feelings, increase their knowledge about death and to continue their individual journeys towards understanding their grief.

Working alongside professional staff and highly trained volunteers, children are given the opportunity to share their individual stories with others in their small group, gain information about what happened through a question-and-answer session with a doctor, take special time to remember the person who has died, explore safely some of the more challenging feelings and responses they may be experiencing and develop ways of looking to the future.

The residential weekend I photographed was focused on children who had lost a parent through illness and accident. Day groups also run for children affected by suicide, murder and manslaughter.

I only spent a few hours with the children, but those hours were probably some of the toughest I've photographed. Having lost my own Mum when I was 11 years old, I found the whole experience very moving. The balloon release at the end was particularly touching. Each had a message from the child to the parent who had died. It was a poignant moment.

Grandma Matthews Turns 70!

This really was a family affair! With 4 generations there were brothers, sisters, Mums, Dads, uncles, aunties, husbands, wives and of course Grandma!

I met Cate professionally a few months ago, she runs a private Orthodontic practice in Cheltenham. On this occasion, she asked me along to take some photos of her family celebrating her Mum's 70th birthday. Like most families, it was a struggle to find a date that they were all free but they found one, and even chose a sunny day!

We started the 30 minute photo session with some formal family shots, at the request of Cate. The last 20 minutes or so were spent with the children generally causing mayhem, being silly and throwing on every single piece of fancy dress they could find in Cate's vast dressing up box, (I had fancy dress envy!)

I hope you enjoy the photos. The full collection can be viewed using this link: http://www.mouseabouttown.co.uk/a-70th-get-together

Crickley Hill Family Photo Shoot, Cheltenham

It's been a busy few weeks. Work aside, we've been celebrating Master Mouse's 4th Birthday, which was great fun! Our planned picnic in The Park campus was rained off and was instead celebrated upstairs in The Exmouth, (not that the parents complained with the bar so very close!)

There's also been the big school debacle! Our little Mouse starts school this September, we didn't get our first choice and so Mrs Mouse, (me!) has been working round the clock drafting an appeal case.

Family life aside, here's one of my shoots from a couple of weeks ago that took place on Crickley Hill. I've been wanting to do a photo shoot up there for ages, so couldn't wait to meet Rachel and her family. It was a Friday evening and the light was beautiful. Here's a snippet. The full collection can be found here.

Family Fun Day @ The Playhouse Theatre, Cheltenham

On Sunday 22nd March, The Playhouse Theatre in Cheltenham held a family fun day, all in aid of Cheltenham's community theatre. Children could enjoy Punch & Judy, face painting, live music, story telling, toys, cakes and much, much more. Mouse About Town went along for an hour or so to capture some of the fun!

NCT 1st Birthday Party

A few snaps from an NCT Birthday Party I photographed a few weeks ago.

Oliver's Cake Smash

When Oliver came along to The Mousehole for his cake smash photo shoot he was such a cheeky monkey, (or should that be dinosaur if the picture below is anything to go by?!) He didn't care all that much for the cake, but absolutely loved the balloons! We should rename this photo shoot to Oliver's Balloon Bash! There was even time for a quick clean up and a play with some of The Mousehole's quirky vintage toys, a fun way to end a fun shoot!
