I was recently booked to take some head shots of a local drinks company in Cheltenham. The shoot was 30 minutes long and it gave just enough time to capture two or three different shots of each team member. I always try to make head shot photography shoots has relaxed as possible, as people often get quite tense with the camera directly on them.

Oakridge School Photos

Last week I was over in the beautiful village of Oakridge to take the children’s school photos. On previous years the school have used more mainstream companies, but the parents complained about the quality of the images and how they didn’t capture the personalities of their child.

This year they opted for me, and what fun we all had! I always try my best to put children at ease, and this session was no different. I chose a nice shady spot under a tree and asked some of their friends to get involved and pull silly faces behind my back. Here is just a small selection of images. I couldn’t share them all due to parent’s photo restrictions.

Kit commissioned me to take some head and profile pictures for her LinkedIn and online portfolio. She is a musician. I visited her in her home for the 20 minute session, which was relaxed and informal, something I always try and do with all my photo shoots. She received a good selection of images, below is just a small sample.

Lucy Cartwright

Lucy got in touch with me recently as she needed some up to date head shots for her online social media profiles. I suggested we meet at Crickley Hill, a spot I use frequently for this type of work. The combination of the woods and wide open spaces gives clients a nice variety of different images. As it was, Lucy also brought along a few outfit changes too.

Lucy contacted me recently as she needed some new head and profile pictures for a new business venture she was embarking on. She wanted the shots to have a relaxed and informal feel, so I suggested we meet at The Long Table, a ‘pay what you can afford’ cafe, on the canal path near Stroud.

The shoot was 40 minutes long. We started off with some pictures by the canal, using the arch of the bridge to frame some of the shots. We then moved inside and made the most of the quirky interior of the warehouse The Long Table enjoys. The piled up furniture made for some lovely images, as did the graffiti in the old bricked up windows outside. The orange, rusty colours complimented Lucy’s dress perfectly.

Ed contacted me recently as he was interested in getting some up to date head shots for his LinkedIn profile. I popped round to his house for the 30 minute shoot and we explored a variety of different rooms that all offered different lighting options. It was the ones we took outside that Ed particularly liked.

Last week I met Ella at Park Campus in Cheltenham for some head shots that she needed for her social media and online profiles.

We had lovely Winter sunshine that created a lovely dappled light through the trees. The shoot was very informal and relaxed, which really helps put clients at ease, especially with head shots. The shoot was 30 minutes long and as with all my sessions, Ella received all the high resolution digital files, no copyright restrictions. Below is just a small selection.

St Mary's Playgroup

I was booked by St Mary’s Playgroup to take some up to date photos for their website and social media platforms. They also needed some end of year headshots of the children as well as headshots of some of the staff. I spent an hour at their beautiful, outdoor woodland setting. We spent a little bit of time capturing the children playing and having fun, and then a little bit of time taking the more formal pictures. The informal, play pictures can be found here. Naylor Powell Estate Agents in Gloucester booked me for an hour to take a selection of team photos and individual head shots for their website. Gloucester Docks provided a lovely context for the photos. We utilised the boats and warehouses for the backdrops. Head shots are something people never enjoy having done, so I always try and keep it as relaxed and informal as possible.

Our Footprints

Last week I drove over to The Fish hotel, a luxury Cotswold bolthole near Broadway, to take some corporate shots of construction company, Our Footprints, who were spending a few days there on a team building away event.

The brief was two head shots of each staff member, with and without hard hat, a group shot. of everyone and informal shots of a team meeting. I was there for an hour and a half. Below are a selection of images.

Abbey Green Vets

Last week I had the absolute pleasure of meeting some very friendly, furry pups and their equally friendly owners, for some head shots unlike many I’ve done before! The brief was to capture up to date portraits of all the staff at both the Winchcombe and Broadway branches. Most of the staff, bar just a couple, were keen to involve their beloved dogs too.

I must say, it was the most delightful and fun set of head shots I’ve had the pleasure of taking! Despite being rescue dogs, they all had very placid characters, and, much like some of their owners, some were more keen to pose than others! The shoot was split over two days and also included interior shots of the Broadway practice and some ‘set up’ consultations.
