Charlie's Baptisim

I was recently booked to photograph little Charlie's Baptism, which took place in Barnwood, Gloucester. The vicar had requested that no photographs be taken during the service, so I had agreed with Charlie's family that I would arrive at the end of the service. After a few photos inside the Church, we went outside and did a few more family pictures. The reception was just around the corner and I had about half an hour there to take some more natural, candid photos.

Nan's 90th!!

I get a lots of bookings these days by families who live in other parts of the UK who come to the Cotswolds to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. Frequently, they rent out a large country residence and then book me to come for an hour or more to document the occasion.

On this occasion, Neil Guthrie hired me for two hours to cover the 90th birthday celebrations of 'Nan'. The family were staying at the gorgeous Temple Guiting Manor and Barns and had the weather in their favour! Proceedings were opened with a play that the children had rehearsed, this was followed by present opening, which again, the children were heavily involved in! There were speeches, table tennis, formal family photos, hugs, laughter and lots and lots of fun. Events were rounded off at 12.30pm with a sit down dinner inside.

Happy 100th Birthday!!

What a treat to photograph this inspirational woman's birthday, and not just any birthday, but her 100th!! This was my first 100th birthday shoot but it has been by far one of my favourites. Vera was an absolute gem and my goodness, she looked amazing. She was surrounded by her close family members including grand children and great grand children who all doted on their beloved grandmother. After some more formal family group photographs in the grounds of the care home, we headed back upstairs to Vera's room where bubbles were popped and cards were opened.

Confirmation @ Queens Hotel

Last Sunday I was booked for two hours to cover the reception lunch of a Confirmation ceremony that took place in the Chapel at Cheltenham Girl's College. The lunch was held at The Queens Hotel, Cheltenham, and was a very smart affair.

The family live in Dubai but their daughter goes to one of the private schools in Cheltenham. The intimate party of just twenty guests included all of the grandparents and other close family members. The three course menu looked divine and I was even provided with some food, which was unexpected but very welcomed.

Alex's Baptism

I've had lots of new baptism enquiries this week. The reception for this christening took place at St Luke's Village Hall in Cheltenham. The family were after a collection of mainly informal shots with one or two group pictures. As usual, the children stole the show, but the adults were more than happy for them to take centre stage!

Double Trouble at 80!

Last month I headed over to Temple Guiting Barns for a double 40th, (dubbed their 80th by my clients!) The barn isn't somewhere I had photographed before but I was very impressed with the grounds and the main house.

Everyone had come up from London for the occasion and it was very much a black tie do. Danielle had booked me for an hour to cover guests arriving, the drinks and canapés reception and to capture the general merriments of the evening in a natural and unobtrusive way.

If you would like to book something similar then please get in touch using my contact page or give me a call on 07983 465414. I'd love to hear from you! Thanks.

Oscar's Cake Smash!

Normally cake smashes are performed in my home studio but it wasn't possible on this occasion - due to a recent house move studio work has had to go on hold until I find new premises. My client's were keen for me to do the shoot though, having done their eldest son's cake smash a few years ago, and so suggested doing the photo shoot at their parent's house in Cranham.

I bought along all my usual props and incorporated a few personal items belonging to my clients too. The end result was great! Little Oscar had a super time, helped out occasionally by big brother Reuben! At the end, there was even time for a quick shower and change of clothes ready for some family pictures outside. Phew!

Tessa Turns 70!!

Last Saturday proved very busy with five photo shoots to get through including two family shoots, a cake smash, a joint 40th in the evening and this family shoot first thing in the morning.

Tessa and her family had hired a cottage for the weekend in the beautiful Slad valley. They had booked me for an hour to capture some formal and informal shots. The three children - Emily, George and baby Tiago - were a bundle of fun and games, while the adults showed a little more restraint in front of the camera! It didn't take too long though before everyone joined in - the children loved being swung around and enjoyed plenty of shoulder rides too!

Simon's 40th!

Last Saturday evening I headed over to MalMaison in Cheltenham to photograph a 40th birthday party. I'd been booked for two hours to capture all the shenanigans including guests arrival, drinks and canapés reception, magic show and speeches. The theme was 80's and some of the retro outfits were hilarious - we had the Ghostbusters, Banana Man and Flash Gordon all under one roof!!

Sarah's 40th!

This fabulous bunch of ladies had booked a cottage in Cowley to celebrate their friend, Sarah's, 40th birthday. It was actually the second time I had met some of them - two years ago I photographed another of their 40th's at The Greenway Hotel in Cheltenham and they had loved the photos so much that they didn't think twice about booking me again.

If you would like to book something similar then please get in touch using my contact page or give me a call on 07983 465414. I'd love to hear from you! Thanks.

Claire's Surprise Celebration!

A few weeks ago I headed down to Cirencester to photograph a birthday surprise for Claire Young. Her husband, Jon, had booked me off the back of a park shoot we did in July. The photos from that photo shoot were a present for Claire for her birthday.

We headed to the Amphitheatre and spent the 60 minute shoot playing games, dodging the rain and generally having lots of fun!

If you have a party coming up that you would like professionally photographed then I'd love to hear from you! Please get in touch using the form on my contact page or give me a call on 07983 465414. Thanks!

Ricky's 60th Birthday Bash!

Last Friday evening I was at Ellenborough Park to photograph a 60th birthday party. I had been booked for two hours by Ricky's wife, Jane, and it had been a bit of an after thought on her part: she only rang me up two days before!

It was a brilliant bash. Guests congregated outside on the lawn before moving inside. No formal shots were required as such, so it was just reportage photography the whole night. This is my favoured style as the event is captured so much more naturally.

After an hour of mingling came the food which was followed by speeches, which overran. I stayed on till they finished though, and didn't charge, which Jane was very grateful for.

If you have a party or other celebration that you would like photographed then please get in touch using my contact page or give me a call on 07983 465414. All digital files are included in the price of the shoot. I'd love to hear from you!

Immy's Leaving Party

I was recently asked to photograph a leaving party for Immy and her little sister. They are moving abroad with their Mum and Dad and held an amazing farewell party, which her whole class was invited to! It was girls only though, there wasn't a boy in sight!!

The party was brilliant. The entertainer they hired did a great job at keeping all the girls on the toes. They played games, danced, limboed and sucked on shoe laces to create lots of lovely memories that the girls can take with them.

If you have something similar planned and would like to have it professionally photographed then please do get in touch. Either fill out a form on my contact page or give me a call on 07983 465414. I'd love to hear from you!

A Golden Couple!

Last weekend was another incredibly busy one, with back to back photo shoots all day and a wedding on the Sunday.

This two hour coverage of Paul and Hilary's Golden Wedding anniversary at The Royal Oak in Prestbury was my third shoot from Saturday. It was a lovely celebration too. They were married 50 years ago on the very same day that England won the 1966 World Cup! Their daughter had even managed to get a signed card by Sir Geoff Hurst!

ABAA-tastic Birthday Party!

On Saturday evening I headed over to the sleepy Cotswold village of Winchcombe for a mad ABBA-tastic joint 50th and 18th birthday party at the White Hart Inn!

The birthday girls were Cary and her daughter Hattie and between them they had over 100 guests. As I drove into Winchcombe it didn't take me long to spot them all! Their colourful 70's regalia was in stark contrast to the pretty Cotswold cottages!

The party itself was soon in full swing and was completely bonkers, (as Cary would say!!) It was enourmous fun though and everyone had a blast!

If you have a celebration or party coming up and would like it professionally photographed then please get in touch. I'd love to hear from you! Just go to my contact page or give me a call on 07983 465414. Thanks!

Hi Gill. Sincere apologies for the delay responding to your email with the photographs......THEY ARE FANTASTIC!!! Everyone loves them. Thank you so much. It was brilliant having you at the party. Thank you for staying and for taking such memorable shots. We’ll see you again I’m sure!

Reuben's Naming Ceremony

Last Sunday was jam packed with six photo shoots, this was my third of the day. It was a short drive up to Evesham to the Wood Norton Hotel, which made a splendid backdrop for little Reuben's outdoor naming ceremony.

The ceremony itself was very touching, with readings from close family members and a saxophone recital at the end by Reuben's Aunt. I had been booked by Madeline, (Reuben's Mummy) for an hour's coverage, giving me a chance to snap some informal photos prior to the start of the ceremony and a few group shots and individual portraits afterwards, before everyone went inside for afternoon tea.

If you have a celebration that you would like professionally photographed then please get in touch using my contact page or give me a call on 07983 465414. My rates are flexible depending on budget. All digital files included.

Mike & Gilly's 50th Celebration

Last Saturday I photographed a super lovely family event, celebrating the 50th Wedding Anniversary of Mike and Gilly.

The venue for the party was The Royal Oak in Prestbury. The pub has its own private function room sited at the end of the garden.

About 50 guests attended the event and everyone I chatted to seemed to be having a great time! The brief was to keep it very documentary, the only exception being one formal shot of 10 particular people. There were canapés and champagne on arrival followed by a sit down meal. My coverage lasted for 3 hours and despite the rain, light levels inside were still good enough to avoid any flash photography, thus keeping my presence in the room to a minimum.

I hope you like the photos. If you have a party that you would like to have some professional photos of then drop me a line using my contact page or call me on 07983 465414. I price according to budget, so it's always worth an ask! Thanks!

Oscar's Baptism

I do lots of work for my local Church, St Philip and St James' in Leckhampton, and last year Nick Davies, the vicar there, asked if I could pop along to one of his Sunday morning services to take some photos.

As a family, we attend Nick's popular family services on the 1st of every month and this service was a particularly special one as there were 3 baptisms taking place!

The service was its usual busy, bustling self with dozens of children enjoying the play area that runs down one side of the Church. After the introductory procession of candles, where all of the children can carry a candle up to the alter, rugs were pulled out onto the floor at the front for the children to sit on. Nick got the whole congregation involved in his fabulous and warming sermon and the baptisms followed. It's always great during these family services to hear the Church so full of noise, which is really encouraged. The laughter and enjoyment from the children is clearly visible, (and heard!) To end the service, the children are invited to grab a musical instrument each and follow the choir back down the aisle again. Running, walking, skipping, hopping; they've all had a great time and enjoy a biscuit and squash at the end!

Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I had an enquiry come through from Oscar's parents, one of the children who got baptised during that service, asking if they could buy all of the pictures. I always back up my data so it was simply a case of going through my back up drives to retrieve the RAW files.

I hope you like the pictures. If you're getting a little one christened or baptised or have another celebration you would like professionally photographed then I'd love to hear from you. All digital files are included in the price and there are no copyright restrictions, so you are free to make copies and print as you wish. For all enquiries or a quote please give me  a call on 07983 465414 or send an email to info@mouseabouttown.co.uk.

I love Gill’s work and she has done some lovely informal reportage shoots at services at St Philip and St James, Leckhampton. Very creative and a great rapport with the kids.

Brian & Mary's Family Party

I headed over to Cheltenham Racecourse yesterday to photograph a large family party that was being held in the Panoramic Restaurant.

It was hosted by terminally ill Brian Babbage and he was joined by over 150 of his friends and family. Brian has lung cancer and wanted a meal with everyone he knows. The room was jam packed as they sat down to eat their meal, enjoying the most spectacular view of the racecourse and beyond as the backdrop.

Along with his wife Mary, the couple have three children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A few poignant speeches were made after the meal before a more informal afternoon of chatting.

The Babbage family are well known across the county - B&M Babbage, named after Brian and his wife Mary, is one of the largest building and construction firms in the region.

There was great significance having their meal at the racecourse. Brian's son, Norman, was a racing trainer and was almost killed when two hay bales collapsed on him. The family were also celebrating 10 years since Brian opened the Deerpark and cross-country course.

The family have a long association with the military and it is because of this that they were recently presented with the Elizabeth Cross. Brian's father, Bill was in the Battle of the Somme in 1919 and his uncle Will took park in 33 missions with the RAF over Berlin. His brother, Fred survived two torpedo attacks during the Second World War and his brother, Norman was killed during the Korean War.

Grace Babbage, Brian's granddaughter, had booked me to come along for three hours to take some candid and informal photos of the afternoon's events.

I hope you like the photos. If you are holding an event or party and interested in having some professional photos taken then please get in touch using my contact page or give me a call on 07983 465414. Thanks!

I am so pleased with the photos! Thank you very much!! Exactly what we wanted!
