A 50th Wedding Anniversary

Lisa booked me for an hour to cover an intimate family celebration at Ellenborough Park to celebrate her parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. We were blessed with a fabulous evening and a wonderful light fell across the surrounding fields. After some family pictures outdoors we went inside for some informal shots. The family popped some champagne and casually chatted as I took some discrete pictures. They headed through to the dining room for their meal, where I captured a few more shots before leaving them to enjoy their dinner.

Eloise's Christening

I photographed Eloise when she was just six weeks old, and so it was great to be invited back to photograph her christening. The vicar had requested no photos to be taken during the service, so I arrived at the end to capture a couple of group shots around the font before heading back to the house for an informal drinks reception. The weather was beautiful, so after photographing the cake, I headed outside onto the lawn for some candid pictures of guests. A few more group photos followed before food was served and I made my departure. It was a two hour shoot in total, and as always, my approach was extremely natural and straight forward.

80th @ Temple Guiting Manor

Last Friday I was booked to cover an 80th bash at the gorgeous Temple Guiting Manor. It was a glorious evening, so everyone was keen to go outside for pictures on the formal lawn. We started with family groups, as per my client’s request, before moving onto more candid, natural shots of the children and adults relaxing in the evening sunshine. It was a 60 minute shoot and, as always, it was very relaxed and informal. Guests were able to gather and mingle as I gently pulled them to one side when it was their turn for a photo, (I’d been given a shot list in advance.)

Will You Marry me?

This was my second shoot photographing a marriage proposal and it was even more unusual than my first! This time I hadn't even met my client, so relied on a basic description of what he would be wearing with a bit of last minute frenzied texting to make sure I was in the right position and on the right bridge, and there are a lot of bridges in Bourton-on-the-Water!! Thankfully it all came together in the end and the best part is...she said YES!!

Gran Crisps's 80th

I was recently booked for an hour to cover an 80th birthday party in Charlton Kings. I arrived as people were finishing their mains, just in time for the speeches. Gran Crisp is clearly a much loved Grandma, Mum and wife so touching were the fond words her friends and family had to say about her. There was much cheering as she said a few words herself before a rendition of Happy Birthday and the blowing out of the candles on her cake.

It was a beautiful day outside so we went into the gardens for more photos and an Easter egg hunt. The children did remarkably well to contain their excitement while some formal family pictures were taken. Not to deny them of their fun for any longer, they were soon sprinting away searching for eggs. This prompted more fun, candid shots. Here are some of the highlights.

Lewis Turns 1!!

Little Lewis turned 1 last week and I was booked for an hour to capture some photos of him. The shoot took place at my client’s house in Bibury in a beautiful secluded spot. Close family members were to have an intimate birthday lunch and so I took some pictures of the room and cake, which both looked fabulous.

We spent some time outside in the garden before going upstairs to Lewis’ nursery. The light coming in from the window made for some super contrasting black and whites and the smiles from Lewis made for some smashing pics! Here are a few of the highlights.

Wedding Celebration

Andrea and Josh were recently married and booked me to cover both their wedding and after party. The wedding itself was a small, very private affair. Just a handful of close family members had travelled to the Cotswolds to spend the special day with the happy couple.

The party was held a few weeks later in London, where they live, and was a rather more lively event. Prior to their arrival at the venue, I joined them at St Pancreas for some intimate shots. Apparently, the staircase in the pictures below is the one that featured in the Spice Girl’s video for Wannabe! We then made our way out into the train station before jumping in a taxi over to Angel.

The venue was an old scrap metal yard and was fabulously decked out. It came complete with an old tube train that had been converted into a bar. After some mingling, there were a few speeches followed by an informal buffet. Here are some of the highlights.

A Wedding Proposal

It’s shoots like this one that really make me love my job. I feel incredibly privileged that I get to witness seminal moments in people’s lives . That they ask me to document it is just fantastic.

When Rav contacted me back in January I was blown away by how much thought he had put into making sure his wedding proposal to his girlfriend, Jas, was a complete surprise. He had whisked her away form London for a romantic weekend in the pretty Cotswold town of Stow-on-the-Wold and had booked them onto a creative coffee making course. I was in on it from the start. She had been told a photographer would be coming along to take some marketing shots, (she’d even signed a waiver!) On my arrival, I had to pretend that I’d never met or spoken to Rav before, which I found slightly awkward! Little did she know that half way through the session he would present her with a cup of coffee with a wedding proposal inscribed in the top! It would be fair to say she was more than a little surprised!! After she’d recomposed herself we went for a short walk around the town to take some shots of the newly engaged couple. So much fun!

Ren's Christening

A few weeks ago lovely Ren was christened at St Peter’s Church in Leckhampton. I’ve done a few weddings and baptisms here and I must say, the vicar is one of the friendliest I’ve had the pleasure to meet. It’s so nice when I’m given a free reign to wander down the side passages and up the aisle, which isn’t always the case. There have been many times when the vicar has asked I stay at the back. I do understand these services have great religious significance but at the same time it’s rather disappointing for the families, who have paid a significant sum of money for me to be there to document the occasion.

Still, I’m pleased to say that on this occasion I had access to all areas and what a lovely service it was. Ren, who just wouldn’t sit still, brought a smile to everyone’s faces. It was delightful to watch her mooch around the Church, completely oblivious to what was going on. There were some very poignant readings by close family members after which Mum managed to catch little Ren for the all important bit of having the water splashed over her head.

Below is just a small selection of images. As with all my shoots, all pictures are included in the price. This particular family received ninety images, all of which they were very pleased with. Check out my review page to read about their experience with me. Click here.

Verity's Baptism

Kerry booked me recently to cover the baptism of her youngest daughter. I’ve done a few photo shoots for Kerry and her family before but it was the first time I had met Verity. The service was lovely and the setting, Birtsmorton, was spectacular. As their guests gathered inside the Church I gently documented the events from the background. Afterwards we all headed back to the Queen’s Hotel in Cheltenham for a drinks and canapés reception.

Morgan's 1st Birthday Party

Little Morgan celebrated her 1st birthday a few weeks ago and what fun they all had!! I was booked to cover the event for 40 minutes to capture some of the action. When I arrived most of the children were on the bouncy castle and could only be pulled away from it when there was a hint of birthday cake being brought out!! Here are some of the highlights of the event.

Jake's Baptism

I've been getting a lot of Baptism bookings lately so when Jake's Mum, Abby-Gail, contacted me about photographing her son's, I was really excited. I got even more excited when I found out that the service was to take place in a Church with the most beautiful riverside setting!

I was booked for two hours to cover the Baptism and reception afterwards. Because the service was public I wasn't allowed to take any photos at any part other than the Baptism itself. During that time I went outside and took photos of the setting. I came back in at the end to capture some shots of Ella, Jake's big sister, saying the final Amen. A really special moment for the family.

The mobile phone in the pictures is deliberate. One set of Jake's Godparents live in South Africa and were unable to make the journey. They therefore said their promises via Face Time. A first for me!!
