Elsie, Bethany, Benji and Fliss

It has been quite a number of years since I last saw Jackie and her family. It was the Confetti Fields back in 2020. Click here to view the photos from that shoot. This time, Jackie wanted pictures of their new puppy, Fliss, and what a cutie! I was booked for a 40 minute shoot, and we got plenty of lovely photos. Jackie received 51 in total, and below is a small sample.

Rocky

This 20 minute mini shoot with Rocky took place at his home near Tewkesbury. Being a rather elderly gentlemen his owners felt that perhaps they ought to get some photos of him. Despite his grand old age he was extremely agile and one had trouble keeping him still long enough to get a shot! However, the doggy treats had their usual effect and he soon calmed down. A lovely session. Just love photographing dogs.

Party Animals

Kate Frost is owner to seven French Bulldogs and she commissioned me recently because she wanted to do a photoshoot with them all. Prior to the shoot we had a good chat on the phone about the types of pictures she was after, she also sent through some examples via email.

It was an early start on the day of the shoot. I arrived sharp at 7am and we worked solidly through to 11am. I was astonished and impressed with how much dedication and effort Kate had put into designing the three different sets. She later told me she had spent thousands of pounds on all the props, which included a real Christmas tree, fake snow, candy canes, baubles, balloons, streamers, doggy food and beer, a mini Eiffel Tower and so on.

The first set was themed around the idea of party animals and I must say, by the end of the session, the scene did actually resemble something of a party.

Dio & Delilah

Last Sunday I welcomed a pair of gorgeous ferrets called Dio and Delilah to my Cheltenham photography studio for the first ever professional photo shoot!

Their owner, Julie, was keen to have some pro photos of them done as they are both getting quite old. She got them about five years ago from a rescue centre after they had been brought in with their litter of babies. The babies were all re-homed and she fell for these two!

It would be fair to say Delilah had far more energy than Dio, who was showing his age, bless him! In terms of photo opportunities though, he was by far the easier subject, choosing not to move very much! Delilah on the other hand was pretty nimble and hard to keep in one place! My prop cupboard got a good work out! An old pair of army boots and a vintage satchel contained the pair just long enough to get the shots we wanted.

If you have a favourite pet or other animal you would like photographed then I'd love to hear from you! Just get in touch using my contact page or give me a call on 07983 465414. Thanks!

Ella

Last Sunday I welcomed the very gorgeous Ella to my Cheltenham photography studio. Although extremely shy and timid to begin with, once she'd had a good sniff around, she settled down well and we managed to get these shots of her.

If you have a much loved pet or other animal that you would like photographed either in my studio, at your house or on location somewhere else then please get in touch - I'd love to hear from you! Either drop me an email using my contact page of give me a call on 07983 465414. Thanks!

Bird Studies

Armed with my new Nikkor 300mm f2.8mm lens I've been out in the bird hide in our garden trying to get some photos of our friendly feathered visitors. We've put out all manner of bird feed and treats in the hope of making our garden the No. 1 spot in Cheltenham for birds to come and banquet!

Although I've been working as a professional photographer for the last five years or so, wildlife photography is not something I've ever been able to take up what with the children being so young. However, simply getting out in the garden for twenty minutes or so in between jobs, home schooling and the kids gives me a bit of a toe in the water.

So this is my blog about all things birdie. I'll be adding photos to it as and when I take any that are worth posting. I'll also be posting any pics I capture from places we visit as a family such as bird parks etc.

Thanks!
