Sudeley Castle

I met Oliver and his parents at the gatehouse of Sudeley Castle, they had been staying there for the weekend. They booked me for a 40 minute session to capture some family photos with particular focus on Oliver. He wasn’t that keen on the idea of having his photo taken, choosing rather to hide behind his Mum in tears. A little gentle encouragement was enough to make him feel better though and soon enough he was leaping and bounding across the grass playing hide and seek and picking dandelion clocks.

When faced with a situation like that I find it best to keep things as fun and relaxed as possible to help put the child at ease. Positive interaction, a friendly smile and letting them see the pictures I’m taking on the back of the camera seems to help reduce any anxiety.

Rosie

I met lovely Rosie, her Mum and Nan at a local woodland just outside Gloucester. It’s one I go to every year as the bluebell display is simply stunning. It’s very flat under foot too which makes it ideal for little ones to ramble around. Walk through the woods and it opens out on to a beautiful vista which adds another dimension to the photos.

We all had a super fun time, Rosie loved playing peek a boo from behind the bluebells and swings in the air from Mum were also a hit!

Rococo Gardens

I’m a frequent visitor to the Rococo Gardens in Painswick as I do many of their seasonal shoots. Today, however, I had been booked by a family who were celebrating their parent’s Golden Wedding anniversary. It had been my suggestion to do the shoot at the gardens, so beautiful are they.

The 60 minute shoot began with some formal family photos in the tulips, which are spectacular at this time of year. We then walked down through the gardens and stopped for some pictures in the wooded area before making our way over to the adventure playground for some more candid, natural shots. As with all my shoots, it was very informal and relaxed with a strong emphasis on fun. The children enjoyed playing on the swings and crossing the rope bridge. Here are some of the highlights.
