Paxwell and Wesley

Daylesford Farm is a great place for a family on location photo shoot. I’ve only been there a handful of times but the results never disappoint. I met Liew and her family there on Monday morning and we enjoyed a 40 minute session in the beautiful sunshine. The couple’s two boys, Paxwell and Wesley, were full of mischievous fun, running in and out of the trees, playing with sticks, blowing dandelion clocks and generally keeping the adults on their toes!

Daniel

This was another gift voucher booking, which had been purchased by the family. about six months ago. There is no expiry on my gift vouchers so clients can book in the shoot whenever it is convenient for them, some have been known to leave it for as long as two years!

I met Margaret and her family at their home near Tewkesbury. The brief was a selection of natural family photos with a focus on Daniel, her grandson. He was a lovely lad and seemed to enjoy having his photo taken. Towards the end of the shoot I suggested a few wheel barrow rides, which went down very well!

Batsford Arboretum

I was booked by Lexi and her family for a 60 minute session at Batsford Arboretum. It’s a glorious spot with plenty of fab places for photos. The brief was a mixture of formal family pictures and some more natural, candid ones of the children. Thomas in particular wasn’t shy about having his photo taken, while Amelia proved more of a challenge! The rain held off just long enough to get a great set of pictures for the family.

Sudeley Castle

I met Oliver and his parents at the gatehouse of Sudeley Castle, they had been staying there for the weekend. They booked me for a 40 minute session to capture some family photos with particular focus on Oliver. He wasn’t that keen on the idea of having his photo taken, choosing rather to hide behind his Mum in tears. A little gentle encouragement was enough to make him feel better though and soon enough he was leaping and bounding across the grass playing hide and seek and picking dandelion clocks.

When faced with a situation like that I find it best to keep things as fun and relaxed as possible to help put the child at ease. Positive interaction, a friendly smile and letting them see the pictures I’m taking on the back of the camera seems to help reduce any anxiety.

Rosie

I met lovely Rosie, her Mum and Nan at a local woodland just outside Gloucester. It’s one I go to every year as the bluebell display is simply stunning. It’s very flat under foot too which makes it ideal for little ones to ramble around. Walk through the woods and it opens out on to a beautiful vista which adds another dimension to the photos.

We all had a super fun time, Rosie loved playing peek a boo from behind the bluebells and swings in the air from Mum were also a hit!
